Trying new fruits and vegetables is a good way to add some variety and added nutrients to your diet. This challenge would be great for anyone looking to diversify their diet!

What are your produce staples?

Produce StaplesThere are so many fruits and veggies to choose from at the grocery store these days! But I tend to get in a rut and buy the same few produce staples every time I shop. For fruit, it is usually apples, bananas, oranges, berries, & grapes. And for vegetables its potatoes, broccoli, peas, and lettuce.

I took this challenge awhile back to mix it up a little!

Have you tried these?

Have you tried jicama? Rutabaga? Other vegetable ideas are: cabbage, parsnips, bok choy, and brussel sprouts. Vegetables are typically inexpensive, buy what’s on sale!

Fruit seemed a little tougher to find “new” choices. Here are few ideas: pomegranate, golden raspberries, gooseberries, star fruit, and papaya. Have you ever heard of a Dino Melon? I hadn’t either but once you start looking you never know what you’ll find!

Log your challenge

As you go through the 30 days, make a list of the produce you’ve tried, how it tasted, etc. If you found any good recipes along the way keep those as well! And share them below!

Other ideas

Finding a new fruit or vegetable to try for 30 days in a row can be quite challenging!

If you can’t find something new, can you find a new way to prepare a vegetable? Maybe try raw cabbage one night and then cooked cabbage another?

Maybe there is a apple variety you haven’t tried yet?

Add a new type of greens to your salad! Dandelion greens, kale, arugula, etc.

If you need help coming up with ideas or want me to send you my 30 day log with additional ideas, I’d be happy to !
